The University of Verona is offering over 100 PhD Scholarships for its XLII Cycle PhD programs for the 2026-2027 academic year in Italy. These scholarships are available to international students, including those from Ethiopia, across a wide range of academic fields. The university has enhanced its support package for doctoral candidates by increasing scholarship payments and eliminating certain administrative expenses to make PhD study more accessible and attractive.

Coverage

Successful applicants will receive an annual PhD scholarship of €17,602.57, gross of INPS social security contributions required by Italian law. This amount includes an additional €100 net per month compared to previous cycles. The scholarship is guaranteed for the entire duration of the PhD program and is paid in monthly installments. Scholars are also exempt from the €250 annual university registration fee. At pre-registration, a payment of €208.00 is required, comprising a regional tax for the right to study (€192.00) and stamp duty (€16.00). Recipients will have access to academic resources, labs, libraries, and research facilities, with the possibility of conducting research at internationally recognized European universities.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to all international students, including Ethiopian citizens. Applicants must possess a Master's degree or an equivalent qualification that is accepted for admission to a PhD program. Candidates must have academic qualifications relevant to their chosen field of study and adhere to any specific admission conditions for their desired program. Both Italian and foreign candidates who meet these requirements are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

To apply, candidates need to submit an online application form, academic transcript, degree certificate, a valid passport, an updated CV or resume, and any other supporting documents specified by the program. A mandatory, non-refundable application fee of €10.00 is required for each application submitted (up to a maximum of three).
