Overview

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) offers internships for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates, to gain practical experience in international relations, public policy, and related fields. CSIS is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy research organization based in Washington, D.C.

Coverage

Interns receive an hourly wage ranging from $16.10 to $18.10 per hour. Interns are also eligible for a 10% discount on accommodation in Washington, D.C. Note that CSIS does not sponsor visas; international candidates must be able to work in the U.S. and are responsible for their own visa arrangements (such as a J1 visa).

Eligibility

Open to both U.S. and international candidates. Applicants must have completed at least two years of an undergraduate degree, be a current graduate student, or be a recent graduate.

Requirements

Applicants must submit a resume, a cover letter, and a writing sample. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted through the official CSIS careers portal at https://careers.csis.org/internships. There are three intake periods per year: Spring (apply by October), Summer (apply by February), and Fall (apply by July).

Notes

Internships are available in various departments, including the Africa Program, Global Health Policy Center, and China Studies. Ensure you verify specific program deadlines on the official website as they vary by intake.
