Overview

Developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship Program provides annual training for future foreign decision-makers in the public and private sectors in degree programs at the Master’s and Doctoral levels in France. Its objective is to help French higher education institutions attract top foreign students.

Coverage

The scholarship provides a monthly allowance of €1,200 for Master’s students and €2,100 for Doctorate students (from January 2026). Additionally, it covers international transportation, national transportation within France, insurance, assistance with housing searches, and cultural activities. Please note that tuition fees are NOT covered by this program.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to foreign students who wish to pursue Master’s or Doctoral/PhD degree programs in France. Ethiopian students are eligible. However, direct applications from students or foreign institutions are not accepted. Applicants must be nominated by a French higher education institution.

Requirements

Applicants must be nominated by a French higher education institution. The scholarship supports studies in the following seven areas: Science and Technology (Biology and Health, Ecological Transition, Mathematics and Digital, Engineering Sciences) and Humanities and Social Sciences (History, French language and civilization, Law and political science, Economics and management).

How to apply

Students cannot apply directly. The application process involves two main steps: 1. Students must contact a French higher education institution (university or school) that best fits their study plans. It is recommended to contact the international relations department of the chosen institution via their website, email, or telephone to learn about their internal procedures and deadlines for submitting an Eiffel scholarship application. 2. If the institution accepts and supports the student's application, it will then submit the application online via the dedicated Campus France website. You can also contact Campus France in your country of origin or the French Embassy’s Cooperation and Cultural Action Department for guidance.

Notes

The scholarship is awarded for a maximum duration of 12 to 36 months, starting on September 1st of the award year. The program aims to train future foreign decision-makers in priority areas of study.
