Overview

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) offers scholarships to highly-performing international students, including those from Ethiopia, to pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degrees at state or state-recognized German universities. The program aims to support students who demonstrate social and political commitment to the values of social democracy.

Coverage

The scholarship provides a monthly stipend of EUR 750 for Bachelor’s/Diploma programs and EUR 850 for Master’s programs. PhD candidates receive a higher stipend (details provided upon selection). Benefits include health insurance coverage and a family allowance of EUR 276 for scholars with a child. The scholarship does not require repayment.

Eligibility

Open to international students. Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic merit, social/political involvement, and a willingness to engage with the Foundation’s network. Applicants must have sufficient knowledge of the German language.

Requirements

Applicants must provide a certificate of enrollment at a German university. PhD candidates must provide an unconditional notification of admission. Foreign applicants must demonstrate sufficient German language proficiency.
