Overview

This is an international leadership program hosted by the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (HIIA) at its headquarters in Budapest, Hungary. The program runs for three months, from September 1, 2026, to November 30, 2026. Its main objective is to provide participants with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of foreign policy, learn about HIIA's work, and gain insights into Hungarian foreign policy. There is no application fee, and IELTS/TOEFL scores are not required.

Coverage

This is a fully-funded program. It covers return airfare tickets, accommodation expenses, and provides visa support. Additionally, HIIA will engage fellows in a three-month, fixed-term contract with a gross amount disbursed upon the achievement of specific milestones, which include participation in educational and professional development seminars, and the production of research reports for HIIA and a personal research project.

Eligibility

This program is open to candidates from all nationalities, including Ethiopian students. Applicants must be recent graduates (with a minimum Bachelor's degree) who are passionate about foreign policy. Ideal candidates typically hold degrees in International Relations, Philosophy, Political Science, History, International Economics, or related fields (other related fields will be considered individually). Applicants must be under 30 years old.

Requirements

Applicants are required to submit the following documents: - A Curriculum Vitae (CV) - A Cover Letter - A Writing Sample of 3000-5000 characters All documents must be submitted in English. Selected candidates will undergo an interview with HIIA colleagues.

Notes

The program requires an intensive in-person presence of approximately 30 hours per week at the HIIA Headquarters located at 1062 Budapest, Bajza utca 44. The entire program is conducted in English. HIIA does not provide work equipment.
