Overview

The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) in Germany offers various scholarship programs to support outstanding students pursuing degrees in computer science and IT systems engineering. Coverage

Successful applicants receive €500 per month for one year. Additional relocation stipends may be available for bachelor's students moving to Potsdam.

Eligibility

Open to international students, including those from Ethiopia, applying for the Bachelor of Science in IT Systems Engineering or Master of Science in Computer Science programs at HPI. Special consideration is given to first-generation college students, those with a migration background, or those facing difficult personal circumstances. Applicants must be new students (not already enrolled at HPI).

Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic performance (typically a GPA equivalent to 1.2 or higher in the German system). You must apply for admission to the HPI degree program separately. Required documents generally include an application form, degree certificates, academic transcripts, a valid passport, an updated CV, and a motivation letter.

Notes

Receiving a scholarship does not guarantee admission to the university. The scholarship is only awarded upon official enrollment as a full-time student for the Winter Semester 2026/27.
