Funding fully funded Overview
The IceLab Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Program at Umeå University in Sweden is offering three multidisciplinary postdoctoral scholarships for early-career scientists. This program focuses on research that connects various fields such as computation, biology, mathematics, ecology, physics, data science, medicine, and systems thinking. It provides a unique opportunity for researchers who want to work across disciplinary boundaries rather than in a single academic lane.
Coverage
This is a fully-funded opportunity. Selected applicants will receive a two-year tax-free scholarship package totaling 720,000 SEK spread over two years. Additionally, each fellowship includes 75,000 SEK for research costs. This financial support is designed to enable researchers to thrive in a high-level multidisciplinary research environment with structured supervision.
Eligibility
This scholarship is open to international students, including Ethiopian citizens. Candidates must either already hold a PhD or anticipate fulfilling the prerequisites for a PhD prior to the final scholarship decision. Typically, applicants should have completed their PhD within the last three years. Exceptions may be made for legitimate reasons such as illness, maternity leave, military service, or clinical practice. Applicants should have experience or a strong interest in fields like computational modeling, mathematical modeling, machine learning, data analytics, programming, statistics, physics, molecular biology, microbiology, ecology, systems biology, bioinformatics, applied mathematics, network science, biophysics, evolutionary biology, sports medicine, or physiology.
Requirements
The application requires an Online application form, Degree Certificate, Academic Transcript, an Updated CV or Resume, a Medical certificate, and a Motivation Statement.
How to apply
Interested candidates should submit an online application. The official application portal is typically found via the host institution's website or the provided official link. Applicants are encouraged to review the specific instructions on the official application page for detailed steps.
Notes
The chosen postdoctoral scholars are expected to start their positions between January and April 2027. The program offers five suggested research projects, and applicants can apply to one or more of these. The final three scholarships will be awarded to the best project-candidate pairings.
