Overview

The Scholarship for Growing the Future, offered by the International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association (IDDBA), provides financial support to students who are employees of IDDBA member companies. This scholarship aims to assist individuals pursuing degree programs in various educational institutions.

Coverage

This scholarship offers up to $2,000 per calendar year towards tuition fees. Awards for the fall semester are issued mid-November, and awards for the spring semester are issued mid-May. The scholarship check will be made out to your educational institution but mailed directly to you for submission. Funds must be used for tuition within six months of receipt.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in a degree program at a college, technical school, culinary school, or graduate program, maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Crucially, applicants must be employed by an IDDBA member organization for at least 13 hours per week. Previous scholarship recipients are welcome to reapply. The scholarship is awarded without regard to age, sex, race, religion, marital status, national origin, handicap, or sexual preference, making it accessible to Ethiopian students who meet the employment criteria.

Requirements

Applicants must submit a current academic transcript, a letter of recommendation from a supervisor, instructor, or coach, and a personal essay of 500 words or less. The essay should describe how your current education is preparing you for a career in the agriculture or food industries. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

How to apply

Applications are accepted during two distinct periods: from August 11 to October 31 for spring semester reimbursement, and from February 9 to April 30 for fall semester reimbursement. You must apply through the official IDDBA scholarship application portal.

Notes

This scholarship program is exclusively for degree-seeking students. If you are an employee of an IDDBA member organization seeking financial support for non-degree training, you should explore the separate Professional Development Scholarship offered by IDDBA.
