Overview

The Japan International MANGA Award is a prestigious competition established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan to promote international cultural exchange through MANGA art. It recognizes outstanding artists worldwide who contribute to the growth of MANGA culture.

Coverage

Gold and Silver Award winners receive a certificate, a trophy, and an invitation to Japan for approximately seven days to attend the award ceremony in Tokyo. Bronze and Special Encouragement Award winners receive certificates.

Eligibility

Open to non-Japanese nationals worldwide, including Ethiopian artists.

Requirements

Works must be original, created within the last three years (2023-2026), and consist of more than 16 pages. Both published and unpublished works are accepted. Works entirely generated by AI are not accepted; partial AI use must be declared. Only one entry per applicant is allowed.

How to apply

Applicants must fill out the online application form in English or Japanese. After submitting the form, you must send your work entries (in PDF or printed format) through the Japanese Embassy within two weeks of the online submission.

Notes

Submitted files must be named with the applicant's first and last name and include page numbers. The work can be in any language.
