Overview

The Open Doors Russian Scholarship 2027 is a prestigious program designed for international students, including those from Ethiopia, who wish to pursue higher education in Russia. Organized by the Association of Global Universities with the support of the Russian Government, this scholarship offers tuition-free study at 24 leading Russian universities. Winners also receive a monthly stipend to assist with living expenses. The entire competition is conducted online, making it accessible to applicants from over 185 countries.

Coverage

The scholarship provides full tuition fee coverage for selected programs at participating Russian universities. Additionally, recipients are granted a monthly stipend by their host university to help cover a portion of their living costs. However, students are responsible for other expenses such as international travel, accommodation, daily food, and health insurance.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to international students from over 185 countries, including Ethiopian citizens. * **Bachelor’s Track**: Applicants must have completed their secondary education (high school) or be in their final year of high school at the time of application. * **Master’s Track**: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or be in the final year of their undergraduate studies. * **PhD Track**: Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification that makes them eligible for doctoral-level studies. They must also be prepared to submit a research proposal. * **Postdoctoral Track**: Applicants must possess a Candidate of Science, Doctor of Science, or PhD degree at the time of submitting their portfolio. Those still awaiting graduation are not eligible to apply. Applicants may choose multiple subject areas, but ultimately, only one program and one university can be selected if they are awarded the scholarship.

Requirements

* **Mandatory Documents**: * Motivation letter (required for each chosen subject area). * Proof of education (e.g., degree certificate, academic transcript, or grade sheet). * **Optional Documents (to strengthen your profile)**: * Certificates and awards. * Proof of language proficiency. * Academic publications. * **For PhD Track Only**: A research proposal is a mandatory requirement.

How to apply

The application process is entirely online and consists of several stages: 1. **Register Online**: Visit the official website (https://od.globaluni.ru/) to create an account using your email address. Fill in your personal details accurately, as they cannot be edited later. 2. **Choose Subject Areas**: Select one or more subject areas you wish to apply for. A motivation letter must be written for each chosen subject area. 3. **Prepare and Upload Your Portfolio**: Upload all mandatory documents, along with any optional documents that can enhance your application, before the specified deadline. 4. **First Stage – Portfolio Evaluation**: A jury will evaluate your submitted portfolio based on academic achievements, motivation letters, and other uploaded documents. High-scoring applicants will proceed to the next stage. 5. **Second Stage – Problem-Solving Challenge**: Participate in an online examination in your chosen subject area. Strict rules apply, including restrictions on materials and the need for a stable internet connection. A reserve day may be available for valid reasons. 6. **Third Stage (PhD and Postdoctoral Only)**: Doctoral and postdoctoral candidates are required to attend an online interview with potential supervisors. Final placement is contingent upon supervisor approval. 7. **Results Announcement**: Winners and runners-up will receive certificates in their personal accounts. They must then select one university and one program from the list of participating institutions. 8. **Submit Final Documents**: Winners are required to provide notarized translations of their academic documents to their chosen university. The university will then manage the enrollment process under the Russian Government quota.

Notes

The competition is conducted fully online, eliminating the need for travel for examinations. Students may have the option to study in English or Russian, depending on the specific program. The scholarship also offers job placement support, including access to on-campus vacancies. Russian degrees are widely recognized, particularly in countries across Asia, Africa, and the BRICS nations.
