Overview

The Princeton University Fung Global Fellows Program is an international fellowship for outstanding early-career scholars in the social sciences and humanities. It offers the opportunity to spend ten months at Princeton University in the USA, focusing on advancing individual research, developing writing, and engaging in collaborative projects. The program is an initiative of the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS), with the 2027-28 theme being ‘Democracy in Crisis?’. Coverage

This is a fully-funded, paid fellowship. Fellows will receive a competitive salary ranging from $100,000.00 to $135,000.00. A comprehensive benefits package may also be provided for eligible employees. The program offers the chance to pursue independent research, writing, and collaboration with leading experts, along with opportunities for mentorship and professional development. Fellows will also share their research with the broader Princeton community through public seminars.

Eligibility

This fellowship is open to early-career scholars from any region of the world, including Ethiopia, with disciplinary backgrounds in the humanities and social sciences. Candidates must have received their PhD (or equivalent) generally after September 1, 2017. Individuals currently pursuing a PhD or employed as postdocs are not eligible. Applicants must be employed outside the United States, holding either a faculty appointment or a professional research position, and must commit to returning to their role once the fellowship ends. Successful candidates will need to submit an official letter from their current employer confirming permission to accept the offer and spend the academic year at Princeton University.

Requirements

Applicants need to submit: * A Curriculum Vitae (CV) including publications. * A Cover letter (maximum 1.5 pages). * A Research proposal (maximum three pages, single-spaced). * One writing sample, which can be an article or book chapter (maximum 50 pages). * Names and email addresses for three referees. These referees will be contacted automatically by the online application system to submit their recommendation letters before the deadline.
