Overview

The Richmond Scholars Program at the University of Richmond, USA, is the university’s most prestigious academic merit award for outstanding undergraduate students. Coverage

This is a fully funded scholarship. It covers full tuition, food, and housing at the University of Richmond for the entire four years of undergraduate study. Additionally, Scholars receive an Enrichment Grant of up to $5,500, which can be used to support faculty-mentored academic or professional activities, allowing students to explore their interests and gain valuable experience during their studies.

Eligibility

Requirements

Applicants must submit a complete admission application to the University of Richmond by the scholarship deadline. Required documents include: * A complete admission application (submitted via the Common Application or Coalition Application). * The Richmond Question supplemental essay. * High school transcript containing grades 9–11. * School report and at least one recommendation letter from a school official. * Senior progress grades. * Information about activities, achievements, and other application experiences. Standardized test scores (SAT/ACT) are optional for first-year students entering in 2027 and are not required for consideration for the Richmond Scholars Program.

How to apply

1. Complete the University of Richmond undergraduate admission application through either the Common Application or Coalition Application. 2. Include the required Richmond Question supplemental essay and all other necessary admission materials, such as your high school transcript, school report, recommendation letter, and senior progress grades. 3. Submit your complete admission application by December 1, 2026. 4. The University of Richmond will review applicants based on their academic achievement, leadership, sense of purpose, and community engagement. 5. Selected finalists will receive notification through the Spider Portal by February 1, 2027. 6. Finalists must participate in an interview with the faculty selection committee, which will take place via Zoom in mid-February. 7. The final selection of Richmond Scholars will be completed by March 1, 2027. 8. Selected students will receive the Richmond Scholars award after gaining admission to the University of Richmond.
