Overview

This scholarship program offers talented international students the opportunity to pursue full-time studies at selected public universities in Slovakia. The program aims to support students in fields that contribute to Slovakia's development. Applications are open for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Coverage

Recipients will receive a scholarship of €5,000 per academic year, totaling up to €15,000 for a three-year Bachelor's degree or the first three years of a combined Bachelor's and Master's degree, and up to €10,000 for a two-year Master's degree. Students may also be eligible for public health insurance under Slovak law. Depending on the university's decision, tuition fees may be waived for study programs conducted in a foreign language. Scholars may also be eligible to participate in Erasmus+ or other student mobility programs.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to applicants from all over the world, provided they hold citizenship of a country other than Slovakia. There is no upper age limit. Applicants under 18 years old must submit hand-signed approval from their legal guardian. Candidates must not have had permanent residence in Slovakia since January 1, 2021, until the scholarship application submission. Applicants should not have any prior study at a secondary school in Slovakia. For Bachelor's scholarships, applicants must not have any prior study at a higher education institution in Slovakia (except academic mobilities). Applicants must have completed secondary education for Bachelor's or combined Bachelor's and Master's programs, and a Bachelor's degree for Master's programs. Applicants must be available for full-time, in-person study and must obtain the minimum required score in the SAT or SCIO test.

Requirements

Required documents include a National ID card or passport, Curriculum Vitae (CV), Motivation letter, Consent of the legal guardian form (if applicable), Certificate with SAT or SCIO test results, Acceptance letter from a Slovak higher education institution (if available), and Applicant’s applicable solemn declarations (completed templates with hand signatures).

How to apply

Applications must be submitted through the official website. First, register a new account using your name, email address, and password. A verification link will be sent to your email; click it to activate your account. Log in, set up your profile with personal information, and complete the scholarship application form. Enter your contact details, upload all required documents and solemn declarations, review the information, and submit your application before the deadline.

Notes

Scholarships are available for studies in selected fields supporting the development of Slovakia. Diplomas awarded are recognized within the EU and beyond. Slovakia offers an affordable cost of living and good career opportunities after graduation. Up to 170 scholarships are available at the Bachelor's/combined level (110 funded by ESIF for HEIs outside Bratislava region, 60 by state budget for HEIs in Bratislava region). Up to 55 scholarships are available at the Master's level (35 funded by ESIF for HEIs outside Bratislava region, 20 by state budget for HEIs in Bratislava region).
