Coverage

Master’s awards are valued at $20,000 per year for up to 24 months (total $40,000). Doctoral awards are valued at $25,000 per year for up to 48 months (total $100,000). Actual duration and value are determined by the specific department or unit.

Eligibility

Open to international students, including those from Ethiopia, who are enrolled or enrolling in full-time Master’s or PhD programs at the University of Manitoba.

Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate superior academic accomplishment and intellectual ability. Students must be recommended by their specific department or unit to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

There is no central application form for all students. You must contact your specific department or academic unit at the University of Manitoba to inquire about their internal application process, specific requirements, and deadlines. Departments nominate students to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Notes

Recipients must maintain full-time status. If you are unable to accept the award within the academic year, you must decline it. Total support for one student is capped at 4 years.
