The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship (UMGF) is a prestigious award offered to full-time Master’s and PhD students who demonstrate superior intellectual ability and academic excellence. It is designed to support high-achieving students in their research and academic pursuits.

Coverage

Master’s awards are valued at $20,000 per year for up to 24 months (total $40,000). Doctoral awards are valued at $25,000 per year for up to 48 months (total $100,000). Actual duration and value are determined by the specific department or unit.

Eligibility

Open to international students, including those from Ethiopia, who are enrolled or enrolling in full-time Master’s or PhD programs at the University of Manitoba.

Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate superior academic accomplishment and intellectual ability. Students must be recommended by their specific department or unit to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Notes

Recipients must maintain full-time status. If you are unable to accept the award within the academic year, you must decline it. Total support for one student is capped at 4 years.
