Overview

The World Bank GovTech AI Bootcamp 2026 is a fully funded, five-day intensive training program held in South Korea. It is designed for government institutions in low- and middle-income countries that are actively developing, piloting, or deploying AI-powered solutions to enhance public administration and governance. The program aims to equip governments with practical knowledge and tools to move from AI strategies to concrete implementation, learning from Korean public-sector practitioners and World Bank experts.

Coverage

This program is fully funded for selected teams. It covers international travel, accommodation, participation in the five-day bootcamp, and visa facilitation through official invitation letters for two selected participants from each government institution.

Eligibility

This opportunity is specifically open to government agencies in low- and middle-income countries, including Ethiopia, that are working on an AI initiative to address a public-sector challenge. Eligible areas for AI initiatives include public financial management, civil service and human resource management, citizen services, civic technology, citizen engagement, public procurement, anti-corruption, transparency, public administration, and other government applications of AI.

Requirements

Each application must nominate a two-person team. This team should consist of a Policy Leader, who is a senior official with genuine decision-making authority over the AI initiative, and a Technical Practitioner, who is directly involved in the design or implementation of the AI solution. The bootcamp will be conducted in English, with simultaneous Korean-English interpretation, so participants must be comfortable taking part in English-language discussions and workshops. Proposals should clearly define a public sector implementation challenge and present a realistic, impactful AI-enabled solution that is already being developed, piloted, or deployed.

Notes

Up to 5-7 countries will be selected to participate. The bootcamp dates are scheduled for December 7–11, 2026. Following the bootcamp, participating teams may be eligible to receive follow-up support and technical feedback to further advance their initiatives, depending on the strength and viability of their proposals and the expert advice provided during the program.
