World Forum for Democracy 2027 in France (Fully Funded)

The World Forum for Democracy 2026 is an international platform organized by the Council of Europe Youth Department in Strasbourg, France. It brings together political decision-makers, activists, and individuals from diverse backgrounds to discuss the future of democracy, focusing on the theme “Rupture or Renewal? Democratic Security for Our Future.” The forum aims to explore how societies can prepare for future challenges, build stronger, more participatory, and inclusive democracies, and foster democratic innovation. Selected participants will join a youth delegation to contribute to discussions and share their perspectives.

This is a fully-funded opportunity. Selected participants will have their travel costs covered, visa expenses covered according to Council of Europe rules, free accommodation at the European Youth Centre Strasbourg, and meals provided throughout the program. Participants will also receive a two-day training before the forum.

Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old. They should represent a youth organization or youth movement actively working on democracy, youth participation, or innovative democratic practices. Candidates must be interested in contributing to discussions on democracy and the future of democratic societies. They must be available for the entire program, including online preparations and all activities in Strasbourg (October 30 – November 5, 2026). Participants should be willing to share the forum's outcomes within their organization or community afterward and be able to work and communicate in English. Previous involvement with the Council of Europe Youth Sector is an advantage but not required. Ethiopian students are eligible as the opportunity is open to international participants.

Applicants need to represent a youth organization or movement. Proficiency in English for communication and work is required. No specific academic documents are mentioned beyond age and organizational representation.
