It aims to recognize and celebrate outstanding investigative journalism, offering a significant boost to the careers of talented individuals from developing countries.

Coverage

Three finalists will receive a fully-funded trip to London, United Kingdom. This includes all expenses for travel, accommodation, and meals. Benefits also include attending the prestigious FPA Awards Ceremony, opportunities to visit top newsrooms in London, interact with influential journalists, receive practical journalism training, and gain global recognition for their work.

Eligibility

This award is open to journalists aged 30 or under on November 25, 2026. Applicants must be citizens of countries with a Gross National Income (GNI) per capita of less than US $20,000. Ethiopian students/citizens are eligible to apply under this criterion. There are no restrictions based on gender, race, or religion.

Requirements

Applicants must submit a portfolio of three published or broadcast pieces of work. These stories must have been published or broadcast within the 12 months prior to August 9, 2026, and can be in print, audio, video, or multimedia format. For each story, a short summary (under 200 words) explaining its content and impact in the applicant's country is required. All entries must be in English, or accompanied by an English translation. A verification letter and an explanation of any collaboration with external organizations or colleagues on the submitted stories are also required. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.

To apply, access the online application form via the official link (a Google Form). Carefully fill in all the required fields, answer the questions thoughtfully, and upload all necessary documents, including your portfolio and summaries. It is crucial to review your application thoroughly before submitting it by the deadline.
