Overview

The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) supports Master’s degree studies at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM) in fields related to economics, management, science, technology, and development. Scholars also participate in leadership and residential programs at the East-West Center (EWC).

Coverage

The scholarship provides full tuition and fees, roundtrip airfare to Honolulu, housing at the East-West Center, a monthly stipend, funds for textbooks, health insurance, and J-1 visa sponsorship.

Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens and residents of an ADB developing member country (Ethiopia is eligible), under 35 years old at the time of application, and hold a 4-year Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).

Requirements

Applicants must have at least 2 years of full-time professional work experience after graduation. English proficiency is required (minimum scores: TOEFL 550/213/80, Duolingo 95, or IELTS 6.5). Results must be from within the last two years.
