Overview

The CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Program for University Studies) is an academic mobility program designed for students and teachers in Central Europe and the Western Balkans. It offers various mobility options, including studying for one semester (3-10 months), attending a summer school (6-30 days), or participating in short-term mobility for thesis preparation, fieldwork, or internships. There is also a specialized teacher mobility program for teaching and thesis supervision at a host institution. The program aims to foster academic cooperation and cultural exchange among CEEPUS member countries. Participants can join through established network mobility (involving research projects across at least three countries) or as Freemovers if their home university is not part of a CEEPUS network.

Coverage

The CEEPUS program is funded by its partner countries. Selected participants receive a scholarship grant from the host country, with the amount tailored to local living standards to cover living expenses. For scholarships hosted in Hungary, payments are typically processed through the host university.

Eligibility

Ethiopian students are eligible if they are currently enrolled as students or teachers at a university in one of the CEEPUS member countries. The program is open to citizens of CEEPUS member countries or citizens of non-CEEPUS countries who hold student status in a CEEPUS member country. The eligible CEEPUS member countries are: Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia. For student applicants, a minimum of two semesters of study must have been completed. Applicants must be Bachelor, Master, or PhD students. For teacher applicants, eligibility requires completing a minimum of 6 hours of teaching or supervising students at the host institution.

Requirements

Required documents include: * Enrollment confirmation (for applicants who have a different citizenship than one of a CEEPUS country but are studying in a CEEPUS country). * For Free-mover students: Two letters of recommendation and a letter of acceptance from the host university. * For Free-mover teachers: One letter of acceptance from the host university. Free-mover applicants are responsible for finding and contacting a Hungarian host university and obtaining a Letter of Acceptance from them.

All CEEPUS applications must be submitted online. First, register by creating a new account, then use these details to sign in.
