Overview
The CERN Next Generation Trigger Project 2026 is a fully funded international doctoral research program in Switzerland, hosted by CERN. It offers an exciting opportunity for PhD students to work on advanced scientific projects, gain hands-on research experience, and contribute to real-world projects alongside leading scientists and engineers. Coverage
This is a fully funded opportunity. Selected students will receive a monthly allowance of 3907 Swiss Francs (tax-free). Benefits also include 30 days of paid leave per year plus 2 weeks of annual closure, health insurance coverage under CERN’s scheme, and a potential family supplement depending on individual circumstances. CERN will cover travel expenses to Geneva for selected candidates. Participants will also gain invaluable hands-on experience by working with world-class scientists and engineers.
Eligibility
This program is open to students from both member and non-member states, making Ethiopian students eligible. Applicants must have a background in applied physics, engineering, computing, or a related field. Candidates must have either started or plan to start a doctoral program at a university and must have support from their home university for participation in this CERN program. It is essential that the research conducted at CERN contributes directly to their PhD thesis. Applicants must have a good command of English or French, demonstrate motivation to work in a collaborative and innovative environment, and possess strong teamwork and communication skills.
