Overview

Chevening Scholarships are prestigious, fully-funded awards offered by the UK government to outstanding emerging leaders from around the world to pursue a one-year master’s degree at any UK university.

Coverage

The scholarship is fully-funded, covering university tuition fees, a monthly stipend, travel costs to and from the UK, an arrival allowance, a homeward departure allowance, the cost of one visa application, and a travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK.

Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country (including Ethiopia), hold an undergraduate degree that enables entry into a UK master’s program, and have at least two years of work experience. Applicants must also agree to return to their home country for at least two years following the completion of their award.

Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate leadership potential, strong academic background, and a clear career plan. Required documents typically include academic transcripts, references, and a valid passport. Candidates must also meet the English language requirement set by their chosen UK university.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the official Chevening online application system. Applicants are required to select three different master’s courses in the UK. Detailed guidance and the application portal can be found on the official website.

Notes

There is no upper age limit for applicants. The selection process is highly competitive and involves an initial eligibility sift, independent reading committee assessments, and interviews at British embassies or high commissions.
