Overview

The Digital Humanism Fellowship at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna is designed for researchers exploring the intersection of technology, ethics, and society. The program aims to foster research on how digital advancements impact human values, democracy, and social well-being.

Coverage

Selected fellows receive a monthly stipend of EUR 3,300 for postdoctoral researchers or EUR 2,750 for doctoral candidates. This stipend is intended to cover all living expenses, including travel, accommodation, health insurance, and research-related costs. The IWM provides office space, internet access, and administrative support.

Eligibility

Open to researchers from all over the world. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a doctoral program or have completed their PhD no more than four years prior to the application deadline (not before September 21, 2022).

Requirements

Applicants must submit a letter of motivation, a project description (max 550 characters), a project proposal (max 7,500 characters), a CV with a publication list, and two letters of recommendation from academic scholars. All materials must be in English and combined into a single PDF.

Notes

Fellowships last for three consecutive months between February and June 2027. Candidates who have previously held an IWM fellowship must wait three academic years before reapplying.
