Overview

The Doha Institute Scholarships offer fully funded Master's and PhD programs for international graduate students in Qatar for the academic year 2027-2028. The institute aims to attract students from around the world to pursue higher education and experience Qatari culture.

Coverage

These are fully funded scholarships. For Master's students (Tamim Scholarship), benefits include full tuition fee coverage, free student housing/accommodation at the institute's dormitory, a monthly stipend, and health insurance. Doctoral scholarships are offered in three phases: the first phase covers two semesters for coursework, the second phase covers one academic year for prospectus reading, and the third phase covers two academic years for dissertation writing. Doctoral scholarship recipients must commit to working for the Institute in research, teaching, or other required fields for at least ten hours per week during the semester.

Eligibility

Applicants from any nationality worldwide are eligible to apply. For Master's programs, international applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree certificate; students in their final year of an undergraduate program are also eligible. There are no age restrictions. Applicants must have an excellent academic record and meet the admission criteria of their chosen program. For doctoral scholarships, applicants must first be accepted by the Institute, be unable to afford the costs of a doctoral degree, and have no other scholarships for the first phase. Subsequent phases require a GPA of no less than 3.5 in first-phase courses and passing the comprehensive examination. IELTS/TOEFL is not required for international students who have obtained a Bachelor's degree from a British, American, Australian, Canadian, or certain Qatari universities where English is the language of instruction.

Requirements

Applicants must submit the following documents: - Copy of official identification (passport for international students). - Bachelor's degree certificate (or transcripts up to the application date for final-year students). - Official transcripts (in Arabic or English). - Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV). - Two letters of recommendation. - Valid English test scores (IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBt 59, or DELF B2 50) or an English proficiency certificate from their university (exemptions apply as noted in eligibility). - A personal statement.

How to apply

The application process is entirely online. First, applicants must apply for an eligible academic program at the Doha Institute and secure acceptance. Following the issuance of admission decisions, eligible students will be contacted and invited to apply for the Tamim Scholarship (for Master's). Doctoral students will receive the scholarship application form directly from the Admissions Office. Applicants must submit the completely filled application along with all required documents.

Notes

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies was established in 2014. The scholarships provide an opportunity for international students to pursue graduate studies in Qatar without financial burden and to develop communication and leadership skills in a diverse environment.
