Eindhoven University of Technology Excellence Scholarship 2027 in Netherlands (Funded)

The Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) offers the TU/e Scholarship for Excellence: Shaping the Future of Microchip Innovation for highly talented international students pursuing Master's degree programs in the Netherlands. This scholarship is funded by the Dutch government's Beethoven Program, aiming to accelerate innovation in the microchip sector.

The scholarship provides €7,500 per academic year, paid in monthly installments to a Dutch or SEPA bank account. For students in a conventional two-year Master's program, up to €15,000 can be awarded if they remain eligible in the second year. This is a partial scholarship, meaning recipients must make a substantial contribution to their living expenses and tuition fees. Separately, the TSH Talent Foundation offers four Changemaker scholarships which provide additional support including housing for 10 months, mentoring, personal and professional development opportunities, and access to an international changemaker community, for outstanding individuals facing challenges to higher education.

This scholarship is open to international students from non-EEA countries, including Ethiopian students. Applicants must be highly talented and applying for a Master's program (or a specific Master's track within that program) in one of the eligible departments: Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mathematics & Computer Science. Specific eligible programs include MSc Applied Physics, MSc Artificial Intelligence and Engineering Systems, MSc Automotive Technology, MSc Computer Science and Engineering (including Cybersecurity and Systems and Artificial Intelligence tracks), MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, MSc Electrical Engineering, MSc Embedded Systems, and MSc in Industrial and Applied Mathematics (including Quantum Science and Technology and AI Fundamentals tracks). Candidates must not be eligible for Dutch study financing and must have achieved excellent study results in their previous education. They must also meet all admission requirements for their chosen Master's program.

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must apply for an eligible Master's program (or one of its tracks) at TU/e. They must submit their complete application by the specified deadline and confirm within their application that they wish to be considered for the scholarship. A brief motivation explaining why they believe they are a strong candidate must also be included.

There is no separate scholarship application portal. Scholarship consideration is integrated into the application process for the Master's program at Eindhoven University of Technology. Applicants must apply for an eligible Master's program and submit their complete application by January 1, 2027. During the application process, they should confirm their interest in the scholarship and provide a brief motivation statement.

Approximately 35 highly competitive merit scholarships are offered for the 2027–2028 intake. Since this is partial funding, candidates must be able to cover the remaining living expenses and tuition. Non-EEA students are required to individually demonstrate sufficient financial means to obtain a Dutch entry visa and residence permit; the scholarship payment should not be used as proof of funds for immigration purposes. The selection outcome cannot be appealed, and scholarships cannot be deferred or transferred to other Master's programs or academic years.
