Funding fully funded Overview
The Erasmus Mundus Scholarship is a highly prestigious, fully-funded master's degree program sponsored by the European Union. It enables international students to pursue master's studies across multiple European countries and universities. Approximately 3,000 fully-funded scholarships are awarded annually for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Coverage
This is a fully-funded scholarship covering tuition fees, a monthly stipend, travel allowance for inter-country travel, and round-trip airfare. Health insurance is also provided. While guidance and support for visa applications are offered, students are responsible for obtaining their visas.
Eligibility
The scholarship is open to students of all nationalities. There are no age restrictions or specific work experience requirements, making it suitable for fresh graduates. Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to 180 ECTS or 180 credits from an internationally recognized college or university. A strong academic record is highly recommended due to the competitive nature of the scholarship. English language proficiency, typically demonstrated by IELTS (recommended 7.0, 6.5 acceptable for most) or TOEFL scores, is required, though some programs may accept an English Language Certificate. Applicants can apply to a maximum of three EMJMD programs per academic year. A "12-month rule" applies: if you have resided or carried out your main activity in an EU/EEA (Program Country) for more than 12 months in the last five years, you will be considered a Program Country applicant, otherwise a Partner Country applicant.
Requirements
Required documents generally include: Degree and Transcripts, a Letter of Recommendation (format varies by program), a Motivation Letter (format varies by program), IELTS/TOEFL scores, a CV (in European format), a valid Passport, and Proof of Residence (to confirm non-residency in Europe for Partner Country applicants).
How to apply
Interested students should visit the official Erasmus Mundus Catalogue to browse available programs. Each program has its own specific requirements and application procedures, so applicants must thoroughly review the details on the respective EMJMD program's website. Direct applications are made to the chosen EMJMD program, and there is no need to contact individual professors. If further information is needed, applicants should contact the program coordinator directly.
Notes
The scholarship duration is typically two years. The Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Catalogue is updated every October. Students are required to participate fully in the program, as part-time study is not permitted. Students who have previously received an Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Partnership scholarship or other grants may still be eligible to apply.
