Overview

The EUI Jean Monnet Fellowships are offered for one year by The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, part of the European University Institute (EUI). This fully funded fellowship in Europe is an exceptional opportunity for post-doctorates and tenure-track academics who have completed their doctorate degrees. Up to 20 fellowships will be selected. The program takes place from September 2027 to August 2028 at Villa Schifanoia in Florence, Italy. Scholars will join a creative academic community and are expected to produce a publication as an EUI Working Paper, in a scientific journal, or with a well-known academic publisher.

Coverage

Fellows will receive a basic grant of €2,850 per month. A household allowance of up to €310 per month is provided if applicable, and a dependents allowance of €210 per month for each dependent child if conditions are met. All fellows will receive €650 for eligible research expenses, such as attending conferences or meetings. Travel expenses will be reimbursed. EUI will assist non-EU fellows with visa and residence requirements, and their consular fees and travel costs to the consulate will be reimbursed.

Eligibility

Applicants must have completed their doctorate more than 5 years prior to the start of the fellowship (specifically, before 1 September 2022). Candidates of all nationalities are eligible to apply. Research proposals must align with one of the Centre’s main research themes and programs.

Requirements

Required documents include a CV with a list of publications, a letter of motivation, a research proposal, a copy of your passport in JPG format, and letters of reference.

Notes

During the fellowship, Jean Monnet Fellows will be based at the Robert Schuman Centre. They will actively work on one of the Centre’s projects and programs, participate in the Centre’s academic life and project-related activities, and collaborate with researchers, other postdocs, and EUI academic staff.
