Overview

The European Commission Blue Book Traineeship is a 5-month paid professional development program based in Belgium and Luxembourg. It offers participants hands-on experience in EU policymaking, administration, and a multicultural work environment.

Coverage

Selected candidates receive a monthly living allowance of approximately €1538, coverage for visa costs, medical fees, and travel expenditure (airfare). Note: Accommodation expenses are not covered.

Eligibility

The program is open to university graduates worldwide. While priority is given to EU citizens, a limited number of seats are available for non-EU nationals, including Ethiopian students.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a university degree (or be in the final stages of undergraduate studies). Candidates should possess language skills (other than their mother tongue) and relevant work or volunteering experience. Preference is often given to those without prior extensive work experience in EU institutions.

How to apply

Interested candidates must apply through the official European Commission Traineeships portal. You must select one of the three available strands: Administrative (ADMIN UG), Vocational (ADMIN VET), or Translation (TRA).

The traineeship takes place twice a year. The deadline for the March 2027 session is September 4, 2026.
