Overview

The Scholarship Fund of the Greater Washington Society of CPAs (GWSCPA) provides financial awards to accounting students pursuing higher education in the Washington, DC area. Since its establishment in 1963, the fund has awarded over $500,000.

Coverage

Scholarship awards range from $3,000 for undergraduate and graduate students to $5,000 for two special named awards: the Past President's Award and the Sue Marcum Memorial Award. In addition to the financial award, winners receive a one-year membership to the Greater Washington Society of CPAs and are recognized at the Annual Membership Meeting in June.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are attending a college or university located within 25 miles of the White House in Washington, DC. Applicants must be studying accounting on a full-time basis and planning to sit for a CPA exam. For the Past President's Award, students must demonstrate qualities and activities indicating future leadership potential within the profession. For the Sue Marcum Memorial Award, students must show a commitment to community and volunteer service.

Applicants must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in an eligible university in the Greater Washington area, studying accounting, and intending to take the CPA exam. Specific leadership or community service involvement is required for the named awards.
