Overview

The Harpswell Leadership Residency in Cambodia is a professional development opportunity for international women university graduates. Selected Leadership Residents (LRs) will volunteer for 4 to 8 months at Harpswell’s leadership centers in Phnom Penh. They will support, mentor, and teach Cambodian Women’s Leadership students and alumnae, engaging in hands-on social impact, developing professional skills, and experiencing Khmer culture.

Coverage

This is a fully-funded program. Participants will receive a monthly stipend of $330 USD, full room and board (accommodation and meals), and travel insurance. Residents will also have opportunities for professional skill development, access to the Harpswell alumnae network, and cultural immersion experiences, including a homestay in the provinces.

Eligibility

* Applicants must be international women who are university graduates. * Candidates should be committed to social change and women empowerment. * Applicants should have a strong interest in cross-cultural learning and discovery. * Candidates must be self-motivated and capable of working independently. * Excellent spoken and written English language skills are required (teaching experience is a plus but not mandatory). * Applicants should be willing to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.

Notes

The program duration is typically 4 to 8 months. Application for the January 2027 and May 2027 cohorts is open. There is also a separate 12-month Leadership Resident Fellowship for one exceptional young woman, launched in 2025, which involves a leadership role within the LR Program. This description primarily focuses on the 4-8 month Leadership Residency.
