Overview

The Kennan Institute Digital Fellowship 2026-2027 is a six-month, fully funded virtual fellowship. It aims to promote original scholarship and quality non-fiction writing about Russia and the former Soviet Union, fostering intellectual exchange between the former Soviet Union and the West. Ten outstanding figures from academia, journalism, and the expert community will be selected to communicate their ideas to the public and policy community. The program is scheduled to run from October 2026 to March 2027.

Coverage

Fellows will receive a monthly stipend of $2000. They will also get guidance and mentorship from Kennan Institute staff and community experts, attend six virtual webinars, and join the Kennan alumni network. The program is remote, allowing participants to engage from anywhere in the world.

Eligibility

This fellowship is open to outstanding journalists, academic researchers, scholars, and community experts from any nationality. Applicants must be engaged in the study of Russia and/or broader Eurasia and have several years of experience working on, studying, or examining these regions. A strong command of the English language is required.

Requirements

Required documents include a CV or Resume and a Research Proposal.

Notes
