Overview

This is the KWI International Fellowship for 2027, hosted by the Kulturwissenschaftliches Institut (KWI) – Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities, located in Essen, Germany. This fully funded research fellowship is for outstanding international researchers and will run for six months, from April 1 to September 30, 2027. The program provides dedicated time for independent research in an interdisciplinary environment, offering modern research facilities, office space, academic support, and library services.

Coverage

The fellowship is fully funded and includes a monthly stipend, coverage for living expenses, insurance, and partial travel expenses to and from Germany.

Eligibility

This fellowship is open to researchers from all countries. Applicants must hold a completed PhD and have up to six years of postdoctoral research experience. Your research proposal must align with KWI’s interdisciplinary research agenda. Candidates are expected to have an excellent academic record and a strong command of English. German nationals are eligible only if they are currently employed at an international institution. Only individual applications are accepted.

Requirements

Applicants need to prepare and submit the following documents: a Curriculum Vitae (CV), a list of publications, a PhD certificate, a research proposal (maximum 5,000 characters), and any additional supporting documents requested by KWI.
