Overview

The MARIHE Erasmus Mundus MS Scholarship 2027 is now accepting applications for its 2027 intake. The Master in Research and Innovation in Higher Education (MARIHE) is a two-year, full-time, Erasmus Mundus Joint Master program delivered through an international consortium with academic partners in Austria, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Portugal, China, and India. It is designed for future higher education leaders, policy thinkers, university managers, innovation specialists, researchers, consultants, and institutional reform professionals. The program begins in September 2027.

Coverage

For all selected students, the scholarship provides full tuition fee coverage and worldwide health and accident insurance. For the strongest candidates who receive the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, an additional €1,400 monthly allowance is provided as a contribution toward travel, visa, installation, and living costs. Erasmus+ student mobility funding may also be available. Two additional scholarships are awarded per intake for students from deprived backgrounds and/or first-in-family students.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to applicants from around the world, including Ethiopian students. You must hold a first university degree of at least three years' duration (equivalent to 180 ECTS). The degree does not need to be in a specific subject field; candidates from education, economics, social sciences, public administration, business, humanities, engineering, management, international relations, development studies, or other fields are welcome, provided they can demonstrate a strong motivation for higher education, research, and innovation. Applicants must have sufficient English language skills for an English-taught international master's program and be ready for a two-year, full-time study journey across different countries and academic cultures.

Requirements

To apply, you will need to prepare the following documents: academic transcripts and degree certificates, a Curriculum Vitae (CV), a motivation letter explaining your interest in higher education, an English language proficiency certificate (such as IELTS or TOEFL), two letters of recommendation, and a copy of your passport.

How to apply

Follow these steps to apply: 1. Visit the official MARIHE website at www.marihe.eu. 2. Create an account on the application portal. 3. Fill in all personal and academic information. 4. Upload all required documents. 5. Write a compelling motivation statement explaining your interest in higher education. 6. Ensure your application is complete and submit it before the deadline. Applications are reviewed by the consortium, and shortlisted candidates may be contacted for an interview. Successful applicants will be notified by the consortium.

Notes

The program starts in September 2027. The consortium includes the University for Continuing Education Krems (Austria - Coordinator), Tampere University (Finland), Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Eötvös Loránd University (Hungary), University of Aveiro (Portugal), Beijing Normal University (China), and Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (India). The entire program is taught in English. This program prepares students for careers in universities, ministries, quality assurance bodies, international education organizations, research agencies, think tanks, consulting firms, start-ups, or PhD-level research in higher education studies.
