Overview

The Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarship (QECS) provides a unique opportunity for students from Commonwealth countries to pursue a two-year Master’s degree at a participating university in a low or middle-income Commonwealth country. The program aims to foster cultural exchange, academic collaboration, and community development.

Coverage

This is a fully funded scholarship covering tuition fees, a living allowance (stipend) for the duration of the award, return economy flights to the host country, an arrival allowance, and a research support grant (subject to approval).

Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens of a Commonwealth country (Ethiopia is not a member, but please verify if you hold citizenship in a Commonwealth member state). Applicants must have already completed their undergraduate degree and graduated with the equivalent of a 2:1 grade at the time of application.

Requirements

Applicants must provide a copy of their final transcript and degree certificate. English language requirements vary by the host university; applicants must check the specific admissions website of their chosen institution. A valid passport is not strictly required for the application; a National ID or current invalid passport may be used.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted through the official ACU online application system. Applicants are strongly advised to read the official application guidance and FAQs on the ACU website before applying.

Notes

Applicants cannot apply while in the final year of their undergraduate degree; they must have already graduated. South African institutions may require a SAQA evaluation process for overseas qualifications.
