Overview

The Fisher Family Summer Fellows Program is a prestigious three-week fellowship at Stanford University for mid-career professionals from transitioning countries. It focuses on democracy, development, and the rule of law.

Coverage

The fellowship is fully funded, covering accommodation, meals, and transportation costs. A limited travel fund is available for participants who cannot afford travel expenses to California.

Eligibility

Applicants must be from and currently reside in a country where democracy is not well-entrenched. Ethiopian applicants are eligible. The program is not open to citizens of highly democratic nations (e.g., USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, EU member states).

Requirements

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree. This program is for mid-career professionals (government, academia, law, civil society, etc.) and is not open to currently enrolled full-time university students. Proficiency in English is required, but IELTS/TOEFL scores are not mandatory.

How to apply

Submit the online application via the official Stanford CDDRL website. Required materials include a resume/CV, essay questions, and letters of recommendation.
