Overview

The UN Women Internship Programme offers global internship opportunities throughout the year in various offices worldwide, including headquarters, regional, and country offices. This program allows selected individuals to work with UN Women, gaining practical experience and understanding how the organization promotes gender equality and women's empowerment. Interns will work on real projects, develop skills, and learn about global development work. The duration of the program is typically two to six months, and positions may be remote or hybrid.

Coverage

Interns may receive a stipend to cover basic daily expenses, such as meals and transportation to their duty station, provided they are not receiving financial support from other sources.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be currently enrolled in a master’s, post-master’s, or doctorate program; be in the final year of their bachelor’s level or an equivalent degree program; have recently graduated and be able to commence the internship within two years of graduation; be enrolled in a national service obligation program as part of their education; or be enrolled in a professional traineeship program that requires internship experience. The program is open to all nationalities, including Ethiopian students.

Requirements

Required documents include two letters of recommendation, proof of health insurance coverage, proof of school enrollment or graduation, a scanned copy of your passport and visa (if applicable), and an accepted and signed internship offer and agreement (provided by UN Women).

How to apply

Applicants must apply through the online application form available on the official UN Women website. It is crucial to complete all sections of the form and upload all required documents. Provide detailed information about your education and employment history. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Do not rely on uploading a resume or the UN Women P11 form in the “Attachments” section, as this does not substitute for completing the online application form.

Notes

Applications for the UN Women Internship Programme are accepted throughout the year.
