Overview

This is a Child Data Analysis Internship offered by UNICEF, taking place at the UNICEF Florence office in Italy. The internship is for graduate students and recent graduates, with a duration of up to 6 months. Interns will support UNICEF’s Office of Strategy and Evidence (OSE) in analyzing global child-related data and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicators, contributing to statistical analysis, data visualization, and reporting projects aimed at improving children's lives worldwide. The internship is expected to begin in May 2026 and may be conducted onsite, remotely, or in a hybrid format.

Coverage

This is a fully-funded internship. Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of approximately USD $1,700 to help with living expenses. Additionally, possible travel support of up to USD $1,000 may be provided in special cases. UNICEF will also assist with visa supporting documents.

Eligibility

Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate degree program (Master's or PhD) or have graduated within the last year from a relevant field of study. Eligible fields include Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Sociology, Public Health, Computer Science, Education, and Epidemiology. Candidates must demonstrate strong academic performance and be proficient in English. There are no explicit nationality restrictions, making Ethiopian students eligible.

Requirements

Candidates should have a strong academic background in one of the specified fields. Preferred skills include proficiency in Excel and statistical software (such as R, SPSS, Stata), data visualization, quantitative and qualitative analysis, time management, teamwork, communication, and analytical skills. Interns will be responsible for analyzing SDG-related child data and managing/cleaning databases.
