Overview

The United Health Foundation Health Care Scholars United Scholarship Program, supported by the United Health Foundation and administered by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), aims to provide financial assistance to outstanding students enrolled in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Sixty scholars will be selected for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Coverage

Selected scholars will receive a renewable scholarship of $10,000 per year for up to two years. The total scholarship amount will be disbursed in two installments: one in Fall 2026 and the second in Spring 2027. These funds can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to undergraduate juniors and seniors, graduate students, and professional students. Applicants must be currently attending any Historically Black College or University (HBCU) and pursuing a degree that leads to a career in a clinical profession. Ethiopian students are eligible if they are enrolled at an HBCU.

Requirements

Applicants must create and submit a two-minute video responding to a prompt that will be provided during the application process.

How to apply

The application period opens on April 1, 2026, and closes on April 24, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EST (Eastern Standard Time). Interested students should visit the official TMCF scholarship portal during this period to apply.

Notes

The United Health Foundation has committed $100 million to support current and future health care professionals through scholarships and other initiatives aimed at improving clinical skills and credentials.
