University of St Andrews Postgraduate Scholarships 2027 in Scotland (Funded)

The University of St Andrews in Scotland offers two distinct postgraduate scholarship schemes for international students for the 2027 academic year: the St. Leonard’s Master’s Scholarship and the St. Leonard’s College World-Leading Doctoral Scholarships. These scholarships aim to support exceptional students pursuing Master's or Doctoral research at the university.

St. Leonard’s Master’s Scholarship: Funding packages vary, ranging from partial tuition support (25% or 50% tuition reduction for the Excellence category, 75% for the Leadership category along with an employability allowance of up to £2,000) to full tuition plus a £18,000 stipend for the Global Widening Participation category. This award is for one year. St. Leonard’s College World-Leading Doctoral Scholarships: Up to six fully funded PhD grants are available, covering full tuition and an annual stipend. The stipend reference for 2026-2027 is £20,467, with the 2027-2028 rate to be examined and verified later. This award is valid for 3.5 years full-time or seven years part-time. Not Covered: The scholarships do not cover travel to the UK, IELTS fees, continuation or extension fees, visa fees, the Immigration Health Surcharge, or a separate research-training grant. Accommodation costs are also not covered by the stipend and must be covered by the student's own funds or maintenance assistance.

General: These scholarships are open to international students from all nationalities, including Ethiopian students. St. Leonard’s Master’s Scholarship: Applicants should demonstrate high grades, leadership, wider success, or true financial need. You do not need to meet all criteria, but you must meet at least one. St. Leonard’s College World-Leading Doctoral Scholarships: Competition is primarily based on the quality and strategic importance of the planned study, as well as academic achievement. The research topic should contribute to the University Strategy's world-leading theme.

This funding cannot be used for opportunities directly connected to the recipient's course. Award holders may be invited to share how the scholarships have supported their work and activities, potentially becoming ambassadors for the University.
