Funding fully funded Overview
The University of Verona is offering 104 fully funded PhD scholarships for the XLII cycle (academic year 2026-2027) in Italy. These scholarships are open to international and domestic students across various academic fields, including science, technology, humanities, business, health, and interdisciplinary studies. This initiative aims to attract global research talent and strengthen international academic collaboration within Europe.
Coverage
This is a fully funded scholarship program. Successful candidates will receive an annual scholarship amount of €17,602.57, paid in monthly installments, for the entire duration of their PhD program. The University of Verona provides an exemption from the €250 annual registration fee. Students will only need to pay a small pre-registration fee of €208, which includes regional tax and stamp duty. Scholars will also gain access to advanced research facilities, academic resources, and opportunities for international research collaborations.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold an Italian Laurea Magistrale degree or an equivalent international master’s degree (such as MA or MSc). Candidates must possess a qualification that grants access to PhD studies in their home country. Students from the old Italian university system (before the 1999 reform) are also eligible. Final-year master’s students can apply if they complete their degree before 1 October 2026. International applicants must provide proof that their degree is recognized for PhD admission in their country. Some specific PhD programs may require minimum academic scores, such as 106/110 or 102/110. Professional degrees like MBA or MBBS are only valid if they provide access to PhD studies in the awarding country. Ethiopian students are eligible to apply as international applicants.
Requirements
To apply, you will need to submit a completed online application form, academic transcripts, and degree certificates in PDF format. You must also provide valid master’s degree qualification documents and, for international students, proof of eligibility for PhD admission in your home country. A non-refundable application fee payment receipt of €10 per application is also required. Any additional documents specified by your chosen PhD program must also be included.
How to apply
The application process is conducted online through the official University of Verona portal. First, visit the official application webpage. New users must register on the online system by providing their personal details, while returning users can log in with existing credentials. Candidates must then select their desired PhD program from the admission menu. Carefully complete the online form and upload all required documents in PDF format, ensuring each document is clearly named. A non-refundable application fee of €10 per application must be paid through the PagoPA system before the deadline. Applicants are permitted to submit up to three applications, each requiring a separate fee. Final-year students must ensure their degree is completed before October 2026. Submit your application before the official deadline to avoid disqualification.
Notes
The application period is from 11 May 2026 to 9 June 2026 (12:00 noon Italian time, GMT+1). This fully funded Italian scholarship program is highly competitive, and the University of Verona aims to select talented candidates with strong academic backgrounds and research potential.
