Overview

The USTC Research Internship Program in China offers international Bachelor's (specifically 3rd/4th year undergraduate students), Master's, and PhD students the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research projects under the guidance of professors at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). The internship duration ranges from 3 to 11 months, aiming to provide in-depth knowledge and experience.

Coverage

USTC offers limited scholarships to outstanding students, which can be fully funded. These scholarships are categorized into three levels: * Level A (Fully Funded): Covers tuition waiver, comprehensive medical insurance, free university dormitory, and a monthly stipend of 2,500 RMB (approximately 392 USD) for Bachelor’s students, 3,000 RMB (approximately 470 USD) for Master’s students, and 3,500 RMB (approximately 550 USD) for PhD students. * Level B: Covers tuition waiver, comprehensive medical insurance, and free university dormitory. * Level C: Covers tuition waiver. For students not receiving a full scholarship, the official page indicates costs for tuition (2,160-2,660 RMB/month or 13,000-32,000 RMB/half-year/year depending on level), international student dormitory (500-1,000 RMB/month), and insurance (160 RMB/month).

Eligibility

This program is open to applicants from all over the world, including Ethiopian students. Eligible candidates are 3rd/4th year undergraduate students, Master's students, and PhD students.

Requirements

Applicants must first contact and obtain pre-acceptance from a USTC professor in their chosen research field. This pre-acceptance is a mandatory step before the online application.

Notes

There is no application fee for this program. The program is for the Spring 2027 intake. It is mentioned that IELTS is not required.
