Overview

The WBG Pioneers Internship Program is the World Bank Group's flagship internship designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students. It offers practical experience in international development, working on real projects with one of the world's leading global organizations. Interns collaborate with World Bank professionals, receive mentorship, work on impactful assignments, and gain direct exposure to the WBG's mission and operations.

Coverage

This is a paid internship offering a competitive hourly salary. The duration typically varies by position, often ranging from 8 to 24 weeks or 3 to 6 months. Opportunities are available in Washington, D.C., USA, and various World Bank country offices worldwide.

Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens of a World Bank Group (WBG) member country (Ethiopia is eligible). They must be currently enrolled in an accredited university. For undergraduate applicants, generally, they should be in their final year of study. For postgraduate applicants, they must be enrolled in a Master's, PhD, or similar graduate program during the entire internship (or in the fifth year or higher of a degree program in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages). The program has both fee-based and no-fee tracks, with the no-fee track typically for Master's/PhD students or equivalent.

Requirements

Applicants need to submit their applications online through the World Bank Group Careers Portal. They should review available internship vacancies and choose up to three positions that match their qualifications.

How to apply

Visit the World Bank Group Careers Portal via the provided official apply URL. Browse the available WBG Pioneers internship vacancies. Select a maximum of three positions that align with your skills and interests. Complete and submit the online application form before the deadline.

Notes

Applications submitted beyond the limit of three positions will not be considered. The Fall/Winter Cycle applications are open from July 13 to August 12, 2026.
