Overview

The Asia in the World Fellowship is a nine-month residential programme designed for early- to mid-career researchers and knowledge professionals. It promotes innovative, interdisciplinary research on Asia through a unique two-phase structure: a three-month residency at a partner institution in Asia, Africa, Latin America, or Europe, followed by a six-month residency at IIAS in Leiden, the Netherlands.

Coverage

This is a fully funded fellowship. Benefits include a monthly stipend, free housing, and round-trip airfare/travel expenses. Fellows also receive access to professional development activities, office space, seminar rooms, and library facilities.

Eligibility

Open to applicants of all nationalities, including Ethiopian researchers. Applicants must be early- to mid-career researchers or knowledge professionals.

Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate strong academic quality and originality in their research proposals. Proposals must align with IIAS research priorities. Required documents include a completed online application form, Curriculum Vitae (CV), research proposal, motivation statement, and a publication list (if applicable).

Notes
