Overview

The AUC Graduate Fellowships for Master's students provide funding for qualified international students to pursue full-time graduate studies at The American University in Cairo (AUC) in Egypt. These fellowships are highly competitive and aim to support students based on academic merit and financial need.

Coverage

The fellowship can cover full tuition fees for up to 9 credits per semester, a monthly stipend, student services and activities fees, medical services and health insurance, and a monthly housing allowance or AUC residence accommodation. It also offers the opportunity to study at a leading university, gain international academic and professional exposure, and acquire teaching or academic work experience. The International Graduate Fellowship can continue for up to five semesters and one intervening summer session, subject to academic performance and other conditions.

Eligibility

Applicants must be international students pursuing full-time Master's studies at AUC. Eligibility is based on academic merit and financial need. Fellows must maintain full-time status and a minimum 3.2 GPA.

Requirements

Fellows are required to maintain full-time student status and a minimum 3.2 GPA. They may also need to complete approximately 12 hours per week of related academic work, which could include teaching assistantship duties, and complete mandatory training if applicable.

How to apply

To compete for a fellowship, prospective graduate students must first complete their AUC application for admission and then submit a separate graduate fellowship application online. Specific application instructions and a full list of fellowships are available on the official AUC admissions website.

Notes

Fellowship awards are highly competitive. Institutional fellowships are usually for one semester, requiring reapplication every semester based on continued academic excellence and financial need. Renewal is not automatic or guaranteed. International students on fellowship support may receive a housing allowance, conditional on being full-time students. The selection process involves a committee reviewing academic performance, individual circumstances, and demand.
