Overview

This is a six-month paid remote internship offered by CIVICUS, an international civil society organization. It is designed for graduates interested in gaining practical experience in human rights research and civic space monitoring. Interns will support global research projects, analyze civic space data, and contribute to the organization’s annual "People Power Under Attack" report, working with the CIVICUS Monitor team.

Coverage

This is a fully-funded opportunity providing a monthly stipend of USD 1,200. Interns will work remotely from their home country.

Eligibility

This internship is open to international students from all nationalities. Ethiopian students are eligible to apply.

Requirements

Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree, preferably in International Relations, Political Science, or a related field. Candidates should possess excellent written and spoken English skills, knowledge of or experience in conducting human rights research, and an understanding of international human rights frameworks related to freedom of association, peaceful assembly, and freedom of expression. Applicants must be willing to work full-time during the six-month internship and be able to work effectively in a remote environment. Proficiency in any United Nations (UN) language is desirable but not mandatory.
