Overview

The Climate Tech Fellowship is a six-month hybrid program (virtual with an in-person component in New York City, USA) designed for early-stage innovators, researchers, founders, and entrepreneurs. Organized by The New York Climate Exchange, the 2026 fellowship focuses on Energy & Urban Resilience, aiming to help promising climate solutions move from concept to commercially viable ventures.

Coverage

This is a fully-funded fellowship. Each team receives a $10,000 non-dilutive stipend. Benefits include a structured curriculum, expert sessions on strategies and fundraising (including IP strategy, communications, and climate equity), 1:1 mentorship, a personalized fellowship blueprint, and access to The Exchange's global network of peers, mentors, policymakers, and potential investors. One member from each selected team will have their travel and accommodation expenses covered to attend the in-person Climate Week in New York City in September.

Eligibility

The program is open to innovators from around the world. Applicants should be working on energy technologies with a focus on Energy & Urban Resilience. Candidates must be at the prototype, early pilot, or early commercialization stage (pre-company formation to pre-seed stage). Availability for several hours per week from September 2026 to February 2027 is required. Affiliation with a university or institution is not necessary.

Requirements

Applicants are required to submit relevant documents such as a pitch deck, research summary, or slide deck.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted through the online application form. The process involves providing personal and professional information, details about your Climate Tech Innovation, uploading relevant documents, explaining your goals for the fellowship and needed support, detailing your background and experience, answering questions about commitment and fit, and providing reference details.

Notes

The program has no application or participation fee. The fellowship duration is six months, with an in-person program in September 2026 during Climate Week NYC, followed by virtual sessions from October 2026 to January 2027. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
