The Yale Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship is a 5-month hybrid program designed for young professionals from the Global South who are passionate about climate change and the clean energy transition. The program includes two in-person sessions (at Yale University in the USA and in Paris, France) and remote learning sessions.

Coverage

The fellowship is fully funded. The host institution covers round-trip airfare, hotel accommodation, transfers, and most meals for the two in-person sessions.

Eligibility

Applicants must be from the Global South (including Ethiopia and other African countries). Candidates should have 5-10 years of professional experience in fields related to clean energy or climate change. There is no specific age limit, but young leaders on the rise are preferred. Applicants must be fluent in English.

Requirements

Applicants must submit a CV/resume (max 3 pages), a personal statement (max 600 words), a short video statement, and one letter of recommendation. A passport is required for identification. A $20 application fee is required.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted through the official Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs online portal. You must register for an account, complete the personal and professional information sections, upload the required documents, and pay the application fee.

Notes

Participants must be available for all program components: the Yale orientation (Feb 1-5, 2027), remote sessions (March-June 2027), and the Paris closing week (June 14-18, 2027).
