The Dartmouth Neukom Postdoctoral Fellowship in the USA supports outstanding early-career researchers whose work integrates computational thinking and crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries. Hosted by Dartmouth College's Neukom Institute for Computational Science, this interdisciplinary fellowship aims to foster independent academic careers and collaborative partnerships.

Coverage

The fellowship provides a two-year appointment, with the option to request a third year, starting September 1, 2027. Fellows receive a yearly stipend of $70,000. Additional funds are available for equipment, travel for fieldwork and conferences, and research materials. It also includes multidisciplinary mentorship from two departments at Dartmouth and access to Dartmouth’s collaborative networks and research facilities. Fellows have the chance to create and instruct one seminar course each academic year based on their interests. There are no additional administrative or service responsibilities, allowing fellows to focus primarily on research and teaching.

Eligibility

This fellowship is open to international students. Applicants must be recent PhD graduates or expect to have their PhD by September 1, 2027, in any discipline. Candidates should demonstrate a history of collaborative work across disciplines, alongside evidence of independence and initiative. The research interests or practice must cut across traditional disciplinary boundaries and have a computational component, either as a conceptual framework or a methodological instrument. Notes

Fellows will be mentored by faculty from two distinct academic departments at Dartmouth College, will be based in one host department, and are expected to be in residence at Dartmouth throughout the fellowship, with the exception of authorized research and conference travel. The program promotes creative work that uses computation for interdisciplinary discovery.
