Overview

The European Commission Blue Book Traineeship is a 5-month paid professional experience program for graduates, offering hands-on insight into EU policymaking and administration in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Coverage

The program provides a monthly living allowance of €1538, reimbursement for visa costs, medical fees, and travel expenditure (airfare). Note: Accommodation expenses are not covered.

Eligibility

Open to university graduates worldwide. While priority is given to EU citizens, a limited number of seats are available for non-EU nationals, including Ethiopian students.

Requirements

Applicants must hold at least a 3-year higher education degree. Candidates should have no prior work experience of any kind. Proficiency in English is required; IELTS/TOEFL tests are not mandatory.

How to apply

Interested candidates must register and apply through the official European Commission Traineeship portal. Applicants must choose between the Administrative Traineeship (ADMIN) or the Translation Traineeship (DGT) strand.

Notes

The traineeship takes place twice a year. The current session is for October 2026. Applicants must provide copies of university degrees, proof of international experience (if any), and language skills documentation.
