Overview

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) Internship Program offers an unparalleled learning experience for students and recent graduates from diverse academic disciplines. Interns will work at the GCF Headquarters in Songdo, South Korea, gaining hands-on experience and valuable insights into the Fund's operations. This program is designed to help individuals build their careers and gain global exposure in an international setting. The internship typically spans six months initially, with the potential for a six-month extension contingent upon a performance review.

Coverage

This is a fully-funded internship. Interns receive a monthly allowance of USD 1,300 to cover their expenses. Comprehensive global health insurance coverage is also provided. For international hires, round-trip flights to South Korea will be covered.

Eligibility

The program welcomes individuals of all nationalities, with a special emphasis on encouraging qualified candidates, particularly those from developing nations like Ethiopia, to apply. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program, or be a recent graduate. Candidates should be engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Fund’s work. An excellent command of English is required.

Requirements

Required documents typically include a Curriculum Vitae (CV), reference letters, and a letter of recommendation. Specific requirements will be detailed on the official application portal.

How to apply

To apply, you must visit the official GCF Careers Portal. You will need to create an account and then a ‘Candidate profile’ which holds your relevant information. Ensure you check the eligibility criteria, attach all required documents, and submit your application through the portal before the deadline. The recruitment journey involves a thorough review of CVs, followed by potential online video interviews and/or written assessments, and a panel interview for shortlisted candidates.

Notes

The recruitment for the internship cohort typically commences in December each year, extending through early January of the following year. The meticulous selection process unfolds from February to May. Newly chosen interns typically embark on their journey in July of the same year, although start dates may vary to accommodate business needs. The deadline to apply varies depending on the specific internship cohort.
