Overview

The European Space Agency (ESA) offers student internship placements for a duration of three to six months. These internships provide students with the opportunity to work in a multicultural, international environment across various technical and non-technical sectors, including engineering, software, space research, Earth observation, law, finance, and human resources.

Coverage

Internships are unpaid, but ESA provides a monthly allowance to cover living expenses. Interns are responsible for their own travel, health insurance, accident insurance, and accommodation costs.

Eligibility

Open to international students. Applicants should ideally be in their final or second-to-last year of a Master’s-level university education.

Requirements

Candidates must have a strong academic background in their chosen field. A clear, concise motivation letter highlighting interests and passion is required. Applicants must define their focus areas and should not submit generic applications to multiple positions.

How to apply

Opportunities are typically published on the official ESA careers website in November each year and remain open for one month. Candidates are encouraged to set up job alerts on the ESA website to be notified when positions are posted. Prepare your resume and motivation letter in advance.

Notes

Only one internship can be undertaken at ESA. Candidates should carefully read the requirements for each specific position before applying.
